This six-day, in-person course contains morning sessions for lectures and afternoon sessions for practical lab training. The course materials include the Atlas of Clinical Fungi and Larone’s Medically Important Fungi. The content of the course is designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and practical laboratory skills to enhance and improve the diagnosis of fungal diseases. The topics include laboratory identification of mucormycetes, hyaline hyphomycetes, dematiaceous fungi, dermatophytes, dimorphic fungi, basidiomycetes, yeast and yeast-like fungi. In addition, fungal histopathology, MALDI-TOF MS, sequencing based identification and phylogenetic analysis, antifungal susceptibility testing, and PK/PD of antifungals are covered.

The course focuses on basic cardiac rhythm identification including some pathophysiology and treatment interventions. 12 lead ECG interpretation is not included. This course will be conducted as a live web stream with an expert instructor and includes hands on practice time interpreting ECG rhythms. Self-paced pre & post work is also included in this course. Included in the registration fee is a set of digital calipers and the "Basic ECG Redbook" (a comprehensive workbook). 09/24/2024 - 8:00am to 09/25/2024 - 4:00pmSeptember 24 & 25, 2024 - Mayo Clinic - Rochester, Minnesota Mayo Clinic’s Hospital Medicine Boot Camp for NPPAs is a two-day course designed for the novice learner, ideally within the first year of their hospital-based NPPA position. This course is meant to be fun and full of practical information taught by faculty that use current guidelines and share tidbits of experience to help successfully care for acutely ill hospitalized patients. It is filled with a variety of commonly encountered hospital scenarios followed by interactive and informal discussion. Open dialog is encouraged. Participants should feel free to wear scrubs and comfortable shoes, bring a stethoscope, and reference/clinical materials used in daily practice. Despite being called boot camp there are no physical fitness elements to the course.
