Bio:
Christy Meyer earned her B.A. in Creative Writing: Poetry from UC Santa Cruz with a minor in Theater Arts, and graduated Valedictorian. Being completely unemployable, she then worked as a model for artists such as Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Annie Leibowitz, before starting a massage and yoga studio in New York City following the financial crash of 2008. At that time, while in her mid-20s, her father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she had the opportunity to care for him through his death on hospice, which inspired her to return to school to become a Palliative physician. Along the way, she spent four years studying Zen Buddhism with the Mountain and Rivers Order, traveled extensively around the world to participate in various wacky healing modalities, and worked in research at Columbia Psychiatrics' Neurodivergence fMRI laboratory for two years. Her residency was in Emergency Medicine because people make mistakes sometimes. She considers herself fortunate to have completed her training in Palliative Medicine here at Mayo Clinic, AZ. She is likely located somewhere close to the front of this room. If you cannot see or hear her, please scream.
