Mayo Clinic's 7th Annual Hematology/Oncology Challenges and Advances in Patient Care for NPs, PAs, and Nurses 2024 will focus on the needs of advanced practice providers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses regarding the care of patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies. This case-based approach symposium will highlight the day-to-day challenges in the care and management of patients, specifically addressing the needs of these clinical practitioners. This course will highlight the complications and challenges that arise in caring for patients with various cancers.
Target Audience
Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Residents/Fellows, and Pharmacists in the fields of Hematology/Oncology and Internal Medicine
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the indications for immunotherapy, target therapy, and radiation therapy and be able to formulate a treatment plan for complications
- Identify updated knowledge of common strategies for diagnosis and treatment of hematologic and oncologic malignancies
- Review indications for bone marrow transplant and Chimeric antigen therapy (CAR T-cell therapy) treatment
- Increase knowledge of palliative care, cancer genetics, and clinical trials as essentials tools for cancer patient care
