Mayo Clinic Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia (MOCA) Simulation 2024 Course - Phoenix, Arizona
Course Directors: Andrew Murray, M.D. and Christopher A. Thunberg, M.D.
Sessions for 2024:
August 2, 2024
November 15, 2024
This is a one-day, simulation-based course that fulfills the simulation requirements for Part IV of MOCA. It consists of a series of simulation scenarios followed by debriefing periods with a variety of anesthetic challenges. You will be sharing the day with other anesthesiologists. Cases are ones that any board-certified anesthesiologist ought to be striving to manage and consist of team management skills, as well as skills managing hemodynamic and respiratory instability. Participants are informed there is no graded test. This is an opportunity to participate in experiential learning: observe a case and then have an opportunity to analyze the case and its management. Each participant has the opportunity to be the prime manager of at least one scenario and to be a backup team in other scenarios.
By attending a MOCA Simulation Course at an ASA-Endorsed Simulation Center (i.e. Mayo Clinic), you can earn 25 MOCA part IV (QI) points for attending the course and completing the online follow-up activities. These online activities include an evaluation of the simulation, formulation of a practice improvement plan, and a follow-up report 1-3 months after the course on your progress in implementing your PI plan. The follow-up activities are completed online at the ASA Education Center and ASA reports your participation to the ABA.
We encourage candidates to visit the ABA Site and ASA Site for more information.
