Learning objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify the key clinical features and diagnostic criteria of ESES, including characteristic EEG patterns and the importance of sleep studies in diagnosis.
- Examine the underlying causes and mechanisms of ESES, with a focus on genetics, structural, and idiopathic factors contributing to the condition.
- Summarize current treatment options for ESES, including antiepileptic medications, immunotherapy, as well as the role of early management in improving outcomes.
- Assess the potential long-term cognitive, behavioral, and neurological outcomes in patients with ESES.
