LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Describe differences in etiology, epidemiology, and management of cardiac arrest in the perioperative period, when compared to out-of-hospital and in-hospital arrest
• Identify rare and complex pre-arrest circulatory crises that require immediate response in the preoperative setting
• Manage various forms of shock that may devolve into cardiac arrest using current AHA and PeRLS recommendations
