"Home Rescue Medications: The Do's and The Don'ts"
Learning objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Define the burden of cluster seizures (repetitive seizures) and prolonged seizures, including risk for morbidity and mortality
- Recognize when an urgent clinical situation in epilepsy qualifies as cluster seizures (repetitive seizures) or seizure exacerbation
- Review pharmacokinetics of antiseizure medications when given through different routes of administration
- Review with patients and caregivers on the proper use of home rescue medications to enhance effectiveness and minimize side effects.
