DESCRIPTION
This journal club is facilitated by a critical care consultant who also serves as a mentor of a structured critical discussion of a current, pertinent, peer-reviewed article guided by critical care fellow (Pulmonary, Critical Care, Neurology). Clinical staff in the departments of Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Florida are invited to participate.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, resident fellows, and students.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Develop the skills required to critically assess a current research article.
  • Identify the ways in which the journal article does and does not apply to your patient population in your clinical setting.
  • Explain the clinical decisions and treatment paradigms in the various settings (emergency department, medical wards, and intensive care unit) across the course of a patient’s hospitalization.
