DESCRIPTION
Two articles are reviewed each session using an evidence-based critical appraisal format along with expert moderated discussion. Topics have ranged from clinical parameters for outcomes research in asthma to stepwise approaches of asthma pharmacotherapy to the role of adjunctive or novel therapies in severe, steroid-dependent or steroid-resistant asthma. 

TARGET AUDIENCE
The current participants are staff and fellows-in-training at Mayo Clinic Rochester within pediatric, pulmonary-critical care and allergy specialties; asthma educators; asthma research core faculty; and asthma-related disciplines (e.g., ENT< GI).  We hope to expand the participant profile to include select members from Respiratory Care/RRT program, Center for Science of Healthcare delivery, Guidelines/Health Policy Center, Simulation Center, Respiratory Nursing, and relevant information technology support personnel as funding and interest permits.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Intregrate new research information into clinical practice.
• Identify patients with uncontrolled asthma, and distinguish this from other conditions that may mimic asthma.
• Explain when and how to implement cutting edge treatment, specifically new biologic agents into clinical practice.
