This course focuses on the management of pancreatic diseases and includes didactic presentations from Mayo Clinic and other international experts on this topic. This one-day course provides easy access to pancreas experts to highlight recent innovations in the management of pancreatic conditions and the therapies that can be incorporated into clinical practice. This in-person and live-stream course allows for interaction with the speakers and brings a practical perspective on how to optimize care for patients with pancreatic disorders. Topics discussed include the latest advances in the management of benign and malignant pancreatic disorders.
Scholarships
Scholarships will be awarded to trainees (nursing/medical students, residents, etc.) that attend this course. Those interested in receiving a scholarship are required to submit a brief 1-paragraph essay explaining the importance and relevance of this course to their fellowship. Essays will be reviewed, and scholarship recipients determined by the course director. This is a two-step process: 1) Submit your essay here. 2) After essays are reviewed and accepted, details will be provided to recipients on how to register. The scholarship will cover the cost of the course registration fee. The deadline for submission is April 1, 2024.
Target Audience
This course is designed for gastroenterologists, internal medicine physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and trainees (medical students, residents, fellows).
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify patients who qualify for pancreatic cancer screening.
- Review diagnostic algorithms for autoimmune pancreatitis.
- Identify patients with high-risk pancreatic cystic lesions that require additional investigation.
- Identify how fatty pancreas is diagnosed and recognize complications from fatty pancreas.
- Describe best practice initial management of patients presenting with acute pancreatitis.
- Discuss latest advances in treatment of pancreatic cancer.
- Discuss options for pancreatic cancer screening.
